Part of the vision for Gateway is that we’ll eventually have a significant number of great WordPress plugins that are powered by Gateway Collections. So many of the scaling and performance issues we see happening in the WordPress ecosystem can be resolved through easing the reliance on the key/pair meta system. With Gateway we’re putting custom database tables on the same footing as CPT’s (Custom Post Types). This allows for highly performant and scalable features to be built to fit seamlessly into any WordPress site.
Waypoint is the first Gateway extension. It provides a modern styled documentation engine. It supports multiple “documentation sets” that create a complete division between products/versions etc. You can see Waypoint in action live here at arcwp.ca because of course we use it to power our docs. Later Waypoint will be expanded with a “KB” feature that enables searching across doc sets and enables you to feature your best doc content. This follows the concept that knowledgebases should be a subset of the “full documentation” which should cover everything.

Gateway License holders will automatically be able to use Waypoint unrestricted (for as many sites as needed). It is also released under GPL so you can of course fork it and utilize it as a base to roll your own custom documentation solution. All Gateway Extensions will always be available to our license holders. When you buy a Gateway license you’re getting not only support/updates for the core product, but also access to all other ARCWP work including React packages, Gateway Extensions, training materials and more to come.
